You don’t need any prior dance experience to attend or benefit from our
classes. You will feel at ease with our expert instruction and supportive
atmosphere. Your fellow students are women just like you. We welcome all
women.
|
 |
We love to see ALL women in class! All sizes and fitness levels are more
than welcome. You will find our classes to be very supportive, diverse and
welcoming to all. The average age of our students is between 35-60 years
old. You must be 18 years or older to attend our classes, but we do
recommend age 21 or older due to the nature and maturity level of our
classes.

Yoga pants or workout type clothing that is form fitting but can easily be
pulled up to your knees are fine for Intro to Pole and Level 1, boy shorts
are necessary for more advanced pole tricks. Tank tops or a jog/exercise
top are best for doing back slides down the pole. We do not recommend
wearing skirts or shorts to the Intro to Pole class. Some of the class is
spent on the floor, doing stretching and transition moves so you may bring
low profile or soft gel-type knee pads if you wish. Bring or wear boy type
shorts under your pants if you are in an advanced class, as you will not be
able to do inverted moves and climbing if your legs cannot grip the pole.
All classes are done barefoot, no street shoes are allowed on the dance
studio floors. Full socks are too slippery and dangerous. As you progress
through your level, you will have the opportunity to wear heels for dancing.
Also, no jewelry
(rings, bracelets, watches) is allowed in class as these scratch the poles
and can lead to possible injury to yourself or others. Please leave these items
and other valuables at home or in a safe place, Vertical Fitness ™ is not
responsible for lost or stolen items.
Lastly, do not
put any lotion on your body 24 hours prior to coming to your class; this
will make you and the pole slippery, which is not conducive to safe pole
dancing.

 |
Class size in an Intro to Pole or Fitness classes may range from 8-16. The
classes are kept intimate and small on purpose; we believe this is the only
way to progress safely through the levels/classes and give you the
individualized attention you deserve.

You do not need to bring music to the Intro to Pole class, but you may
request any music that inspires you when you are in the different Pole
Level/Fitness classes. Your own music choices in class helps you to become
a more intuitive and emotional dancer. Women often want to develop a
routine for dancing for their partners, and that routine is often worked on
in class (Level 1 and above) Our sound system is iPod compatible, so feel
free to bring your iPod to share your playlists and music with your class!

There is NO nudity in any of our classes. We focus on helping you to feel
more sensual, but our classes do not focus on 'sleazy' movements or
vulgarity in any way. Our classes are supportive, classy, with a just
little sensuality thrown in to spice things up!

Our studio is a
1,200 square foot private boutique style
fitness/dance studio. Our studio has 2 brass poles and 6 stainless steel dance
poles that are 13’ tall. These are permanent poles that are anchored into
concrete and steel so there is no weight limit with these poles. Our décor also adds to the
comfortable and elegant ambiance…warm, golden and brown hues that are sure
to make you feel beautiful and sensual. Walk through the doors of Vertical
Fitness ™ and experience it for yourself!

If you feel that you just can not come into a group class at first, private
lessons may be what is needed to boost your confidence. Nerves are normal,
but once you come to a group class and see how supportive and fun it is,
the nerves will disappear only to be replaced by impatience! Impatience for
the next class to begin!

 |
We must ask that you refrain from any Pole Dance class while pregnant. We also
advise you to get a doctor’s clearance to participate in class if you have
given birth within the last three months.

 |
We recommend and refer all of our students to X-Pole, from the UK, now distributing
in the US. X-Poles are the preferred choice for ease of use and safety. The
X-Pole is the safest pole on the market, and we highly encourage you to buy
a sturdy quality pole. Steer clear of any pole that is spring loaded, as it
is a recipe for disaster if you practice on it on a regular basis. Please
visit our online store or speak to an instructor for X-Pole purchases and
information. We have poles in stock at all times!
Our students that own poles excel very quickly, as practicing more than 2
times a week builds strength and agility to help with dancing and spinning/trick
progression. If you do install your own pole, follow all included
instructions carefully or have a professional handyman install the pole for
you. Be sure to practice safely; never do moves that you have not been
taught how to do properly.

 |
We do not allow spectators in the studio at any time. This is a woman-only
environment to help everyone feel safe and confident. If you wish to dance
for your husband, boyfriend, partner or friend, you may book private studio
time to do so.
|
 |
We offer a variety of private events such as, Bachelorette, Girls’ Night
Out, Birthday, Single Again, Bridal showers, Classes for Corporate team
building and more! We can customize a party to your needs. We can offer a
party type atmosphere or a class geared towards learning. We can offer any
of our workshops for your private event or party as well. If you wish to
book a private party, please do so well in advance, as weekend nights tend
to book quickly, especially prior to and during prime wedding season! Our
parties, events, workshops and classes are women only.

Pole dancing is a challenging
workout, and you need to build your strength to do many of the
spins/tricks. Please give yourself time to build that much needed strength.
Doing too much too fast can lead to injury. DO NOT attempt spins or weight
bearing movements until you are thoroughly warmed up, and only with
instructor supervision! No inversions without instruction and only with an
instructor spotting you! Everyone learns at a different pace, each level is
8 weeks long, if you feel you are not progressing as fast as you would like
then a private lesson may give you that extra time needed to learn the
moves. As you progress toward the intermediate and advanced levels,
placement into these levels will be determined by the instructor.
|
 |
If you have an emergency or have a scheduled vacation and you are taking
the Pole Level classes, you can make up a missed class with a private
lesson for no additional charge. This way we can safely catch you up on
what you missed in class. Please inform us in advance, if possible, should
you need to miss a Pole Level class as it helps us to plan lessons and
start the class on time.

 |
We do offer private lessons. Women that are shy or have body image issues
they wish to address and overcome often seek private instruction. In a
supportive nurturing environment, we can assist you in overcoming these
issues and help you to see your inherent beauty. We also offer private lessons for any woman desiring extra instruction.
Studio rental time is available should you wish to dance for your partner
or friends. Open pole practice studio time is available throughout the week
for the seriously pole addicted.
